How PTO funds are utilized:

  • Hire Paraprofessionals to support grades 1-5
  • Host the Trunk or Treat Community Event
  • Provide Late Start Breakfasts and Conference Dinner Meals for our hardworking Black Rock Staff
  • Fund Special Educational Grants for our Educators
  • Distribute Special Building Requests for Teachers and Administration to Support Students
  • Arrange Engaging and Educational School-Wide Assemblies
  • Sponsor “Black Rock Gives Back” (We sponsor the Erie Community food Food Bank. This is our our biggest community event of the year!)

Financial Goal: $75,000

With your generous support, we can make this goal a reality. Our principal, Sharla Kaczar, is excited to run alongside every grade! Plus, if we hit our target of $75,000, she will do something spectacular. We will decide at our next PTO meeting on September 10th.

Prepare to ignite your Erie community spirit and join us for an unforgettable evening as Erie High School proudly presents the Homecoming Kick-off Event! This exciting community gathering is the perfect way to celebrate the start of Homecoming week with friends, family, and fellow Tigers.

Gifted and Talented Referrals

Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress.  In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.

Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.

The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

Please meet Officer Carroll, one of our school’s Student Resource Officers (SROs) from Erie PD. SROs work to develop a rapport with students, staff, and parents by being visible and approachable within a school community. This practice helps foster a safe learning environment. Please say hello to him if you see him on campus.

There will be a vision and hearing screening at your school on September 16th and 17th. Your child(ren) may be on the list to be screened. Please encourage them to wear their glasses to school on this day. If the screening indicates your student needs further evaluation, you will be notified by mail. Please consult your school’s health clerk if you have questions or concerns. Here is a link for further information about the Colorado Department of Education’s guidelines for vision screenings: https://tinyurl.com/w54zkk7r

Does Your Erie Student Qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch at School?

If so, they are eligible for Erie UpLink’s Tiger Packs program. Tiger Packs contain kid-friendly, nonperishable food items and are delivered to the students’ doorsteps once per month on the Wednesday prior to school breaks to help bridge the food gap for those kids who normally receive free breakfast and lunch at school. Parents can sign up online at:

*Registration must be resubmitted each school year
