Staff Wellness Cart from SHAC
🛒 Staff Wellness “Paws”itivity Cart Has Launched!
Black Rock’s SHAC is proud to announce the launch of our Staff Wellness “Paws”itivity Cart, an initiative designed to uplift and celebrate our incredible staff all year long! Thanks to generous funding from the Erie Economic Development Council and a grant written by PLAY Education, our first delivery rolled out this week. Staff members got a brightly designed bag decorated by our very own Rock Pile kiddos that included:
- 🥨 One snack item
- 🧘 One self-care item
- 🧑🏫 One classroom item
This joyful effort supports a thriving school culture and creates meaningful opportunities for students to connect with caring adults. We’re planning two more deliveries in December and exploring fun incentives like $5 gift card drawings for participating staff.
🎁 Want to help?
We’re currently seeking donations to restock the cart for December. You can contribute via:
- Venmo: @milliken_s (x6205) or @PLAYEducation
- Contact Shannon Milliken (Black Rock Parent and SHAC Co-Lead) to discuss other support opportunities ([email protected])
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to staff wellness. We can’t wait to see this cart grow with your help!
In good health,
SHAC Team

Birthday’s at Black Rock
BIRTHDAYS – In lieu of parties, birthdays will be celebrated at Black Rock Elementary with birthday buttons. On the day of their birthday (or weekday closest to it if it falls on a weekend), a student will be recognized on the morning announcements and they will receive a birthday button to wear during the day.
This allows the school community to recognize and celebrate this special day with each student. If a child’s a birthday is during the summer months, parents may choose a “half birthday” or we will recognize summer birthdays in May. In support of our St. Vrain School Wellness Policy (Procedure 741-ADF), families are not
permitted to bring in classroom birthday treats (ie. cupcakes, cookies, pizzas, etc.).
(Invitations to private parties are not to be distributed at school, unless all members of the student’s class are invited.)
After School Playground Use
Playground Reminder
We love seeing families enjoy our playground after school! Please remember that students must be supervised by a parent or guardian and that all school rules still apply when using the equipment. The playground is open for family use until 3:42 p.m. At that time, we kindly ask families to head home so our after-school program, Rock Pile, can make use of the space. Thank you for helping us keep our playground safe and fun for everyone!
